Optimize product performance with Google Merchant Center to ChatGPT integration
Use the Windsor.ai plugin to connect Google Merchant Center to ChatGPT and find high-impression products, listing issues, and missing product data across your catalog. Discover key use cases below:
Fix blocked products quickly
Ask ChatGPT how many products are disapproved, pending or expiring for each destination and country. This helps your team see where catalog issues are and check that the counts fall after each fix.
Connect your shop to your sales
Ask the AI to show you which specific products from your feed earn conversions in your ads (Google Ads). This shows which items drive sales and which get clicks without sales. Combining sources needs a paid plan. The free forever plan includes 1 data source.
Spot 'Hidden Gem' products
ChatGPT can help you find products that have high interest from shoppers but aren’t getting enough visibility yet. Understand which items deserve a little more attention to turn them into top sellers.
Create better product descriptions
Let ChatGPT analyze your basic product details to generate professional, catchy descriptions, and write the one you choose to an API data source with the update_product write action after you confirm.
Try this prompt: Merchant Center product statuses and prices in ChatGPT
In a chat with the Windsor.ai plugin, ask:
For my Google Merchant Center account, how many products are active, pending, disapproved and expiring for each destination and country? Then list the products whose price is furthest above Google's benchmark price, with the price, the benchmark and the gap in percent.
- Product statuses: ChatGPT answers from product_status_reporting_context (for example Shopping ads or free listings), product_status_country and the active, pending, disapproved and expiring counts (product_status_disapproved_count and the others).
- Prices: ChatGPT answers from product_title, product_price, product_benchmark_price and product_price_gap.
Windsor.ai returns the number of disapproved products for each destination, without the reason for each one; Merchant Center lists the reasons per product. The setup steps, a second prompt and fixes for common problems are in how to connect Google Merchant Center to ChatGPT.
Available actions
Insert Product Add a product to an API data source of the connected Merchant Center account. If the data source already has an entry with the same product_id, content_language and feed_label, the new entry replaces it. data_source is the data_source_id or data_source_name of an API data source (Data Sources table, or create one with create_data_source). In a primary data source, give the attributes that Google needs to show the product, for example title, link, image_link, price, currency and availability. Merchant Center shows the change after a few minutes. Remove the product with delete_product.

Update Product Change the given attributes of a product in an API data source of the connected Merchant Center account. Attributes that are not given keep their values. product_id, content_language and feed_label come from the product_id, product_content_language and product_feed_label fields. data_source is the data_source_id or data_source_name of an API data source: the product's primary data source (product_data_source) if its input is API, otherwise a supplemental API data source that is linked to that primary data source (create one with create_data_source and link_to_primary_data_source). Values of a supplemental data source that comes before the feed in the feed's default rule (as create_data_source links it) override the feed values until delete_product removes them from the supplemental data source. clear_attributes deletes attributes from the product in data_source: in a supplemental data source the product then shows the feed value again. pause ADS or ALL pauses the product, NONE ends the pause. Create Data Source Create an API product data source in the connected Merchant Center account. A primary data source holds products that insert_product adds. The user removes the link in Merchant Center (the Attribute rules of the primary data source). Give content_language and feed_label together to accept only products with them, or leave both out to accept every product. countries is for a primary data source only. Each call creates a new data source: list the existing ones in the Data Sources table first.

FAQs
Is there an official Google Merchant Center app for ChatGPT?
No. ChatGPT’s Plugins directory has no Merchant Center plugin from Google (checked 4 November 2026). The directory also lists Windsor.ai’s dedicated “W. Google Merchant Center” plugin (“Analyze Google Merchant Center”); the steps on this page use the main Windsor.ai plugin. Google documents a Merchant API MCP server in alpha, with read tools (including the aggregated reasons for product disapprovals) and low-risk write tools such as creating a data source. It needs a Google Cloud project and OAuth or a service account, and its guide covers Antigravity, Claude’s command line tool and cURL; it does not cover ChatGPT (Google’s guide). In ChatGPT, a custom MCP server gets full support only in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces; Pro gets read and fetch tools only. You can also use the Windsor.ai plugin, copy the figures from a Merchant Center report into a chat, or send the data to Google Sheets. The routes are compared in how to connect Google Merchant Center to ChatGPT.
What Google Merchant Center metrics can I analyze in ChatGPT with Windsor.ai?
Windsor.ai gives ChatGPT 150 Merchant Center fields, including:
- Product performance metrics: product impressions, clicks, CTR (click-through rate), conversions and conversion rate (both for free listings only), and click potential.
- Pricing and competitiveness insights: product price, sale price, benchmark price, price gap, and suggested price.
- Price suggestion forecasts: the predicted click, conversion and impression uplift of the suggested price, and the predicted effectiveness of applying it.
- Inventory and product status: product availability, availability date, product condition, sell on Google quantity, product creation date, and product expiration date, plus the number of active, pending, disapproved and expiring products for each destination and country.
- Product attributes and catalog structure: product ID, product title, brand, product category (L1 to L5), product type (L1 to L5), and product channel.
- Custom labels and segmentation: custom label 0 to 4, product feed label, product data source, product language code, product content language, and product item group ID.
Can ChatGPT generate product descriptions for my Merchant Center feed?
Yes. ChatGPT reads your product attributes (brand, Google product category, current description) and drafts new descriptions. With the update_product write action (write actions list), it can write the one you choose to an API data source after you confirm.
How often is the Google Merchant Center data refreshed in ChatGPT?
Windsor.ai pulls your Merchant Center data when you ask in ChatGPT. There is no scheduled export or manual refresh.
Can I analyze product availability and out-of-stock items?
Yes. ChatGPT can list the products that are out of stock, on preorder or on backorder, and count your products by availability.
Does connecting Merchant Center to ChatGPT list my products in ChatGPT shopping?
No. The Windsor.ai plugin gives ChatGPT your Merchant Center data to analyze. Showing your products in ChatGPT’s shopping results is a separate program: OpenAI publishes its own product feed for merchants in its commerce documentation.
What prompts can I use to analyze Google Merchant Center data in ChatGPT?
For deeper insights, try more advanced prompts such as:
-
Find products with at least 1,000 impressions in the last 30 days but 0 conversions from free listings. Analyze their titles for missing keywords compared to my top performers. Recommend how to rewrite them to improve relevance and drive conversions.
-
Analyze the relationship between 'Product Price' and 'CTR' across my entire inventory. Identify the price range where engagement is highest and list products that fall outside this range.
-
Cross-reference my top-selling products from Google Ads (Conversion Value) with their attributes in Google Merchant Center (Product Type, Category, Price). Which specific product types or price points are driving the most sales?
-
Find products that have a free listings conversion rate 20% higher than the account average but are currently receiving less than 5% of total impressions. Suggest how to increase their exposure.
The Google Ads prompt combines two sources. Combining sources needs a paid plan. The free forever plan includes 1 data source.
