Microsoft Clarity “Last 1 to 3 Days” Error: How to Keep More Than 3 Days of Data
If you request Microsoft Clarity data through Windsor.ai, in Claude, ChatGPT, Looker Studio, Google Sheets or the API, and the request comes back with a message like this:
Microsoft Clarity API only supports the last 1 to 3 days. Requested range spans 7 day(s). Please narrow the date range to at most 3 days within the last 3 days.
the request asked for more data than Microsoft Clarity’s API returns. To fix it, request the last 1, 2 or 3 days and run the request again.
Clarity’s API cannot return a week or a month in one request. To report on longer periods, store Clarity data every day outside Clarity, for example with a daily Windsor.ai export to BigQuery or Google Sheets.
Why it happens
Microsoft limits the Clarity Data Export API that the Windsor.ai connector uses (Microsoft Learn):
- A request returns the last 1, 2 or 3 days, counted as the 24, 48 or 72 hours before the request.
- Each Clarity project allows 10 API requests per day.
- A request can break the data down by up to three dimensions, and the response holds up to 1,000 rows.
The connector checks the date range before it calls Clarity. A range longer than 3 days, or one that starts more than 3 days ago, returns this error and no rows.
How to fix the request
Request at most the last 3 days. Where you change it depends on where the request comes from:
- Looker Studio, the Google Sheets add-on or another report: set the date range to the last 1, 2 or 3 days.
-
API or connector URL: set
date_fromto a day within the last 3 days. - Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant: ask for the last 3 days of Clarity data. When a question covers several sources over a longer period, ask for Clarity separately for the last 3 days.
The daily request limit
A second Clarity error appears when a project has used its 10 requests for the day:
Microsoft Clarity allows 10 API requests per project per day, and this project used all of them (HTTP 429 Exceeded daily limit). Retry after Clarity resets the daily limit.
The limit is per Clarity project, shared by every report, task and AI assistant that requests data for that project. Wait until Clarity resets the limit, then request the data again. To stay under the limit, pull Clarity data once a day into a destination and run reports and questions on the stored copy.
How to keep more than 3 days of Clarity data
You can build a longer history by storing Clarity data every day before it falls outside the 3-day window. The history starts on the day you set this up. Clarity’s API cannot return older days later.
- In the Windsor.ai dashboard, create a destination task with Microsoft Clarity as the source and Google Sheets or BigQuery as the destination.
- Add
dateto the fields, together with up to three dimensions, for exampleurl, deviceorcountry. - Set the schedule to daily and the date range to the last day.
- For Google Sheets, enter
dateand the same dimensions in Columns to Match. On each run, a matching row is updated and a row with no match is added. Without Columns to Match, every run adds all rows again and the sheet fills with duplicates.
A daily task uses part of the project’s 10 daily requests. Keep the other requests for that project low, for example by asking AI assistants about the stored data instead of live Clarity data.
Still stuck?
If the date range is within the last 3 days and you still see the error, reach out to support with:
- The full error message, verbatim.
- The date range you requested, and where the request came from (report, destination task, API, AI assistant).
- The Clarity project.

FAQs
Can I backfill older Clarity data?
No. Clarity’s API does not return days older than 3 days, so a backfill cannot load them. The stored history starts on the day you set up the daily export.
Does the 10-request limit apply to each report?
No. It applies to the whole Clarity project. Every report, destination task and AI assistant request for that project counts toward the same 10 requests a day.
Does a paid Windsor.ai plan remove these limits?
No. Both limits are set by Microsoft and apply on every Windsor.ai plan.
