You connect your YouTube channel to Gemini Enterprise in two parts: authorize the channel in Windsor.ai, then add Windsor.ai as a data store in the Google Cloud console. After the setup, Gemini answers questions about views, watch time, subscribers, traffic sources and audience for your own channel, per video or per day.
Gemini’s own YouTube app finds videos, playlists and channels on YouTube and answers questions about them. Its help page does not describe access to your channel’s YouTube Studio numbers, which is what the setup below adds.
Connect YouTube to Windsor.ai: free forever plan, no credit card. onboard.windsor.ai/app/youtube
Before you start
- Gemini Enterprise Standard, Plus, Frontline or Pay-as-you-go, set up in the Google Cloud console. The Business edition has its own setup with a smaller choice of connectors.
- A Google Cloud project that belongs to your organization, with billing turned on and Gemini Enterprise activated. A project created with a personal Gmail account cannot configure the access control the data store needs.
- The Discovery Engine Editor role on that project for the person who creates the data store.
- The channel owner’s Google account. YouTube does not give the YouTube APIs to Managers, Editors or Viewers invited through YouTube Studio’s channel permissions. Sign in as the owner. If the channel still uses a Brand Account, Google asks you to move it to channel permissions first.
- A Windsor.ai account. The free forever plan covers one data source, YouTube included, with no credit card. To ask about YouTube next to GA4 or an ad account after the first 30 days, paid plans start at $19/month for 3 sources or $99/month for 7, billed annually (pricing).
Gemini Enterprise and the data store are billed by Google, separately from your Windsor.ai plan.
Step 1: Connect your YouTube channel to Windsor.ai
- Open onboard.windsor.ai/app/youtube and sign in to Windsor.ai, or create a free account.
- Sign in with the channel owner’s Google account and allow Windsor.ai to read your YouTube Analytics.
- Select the channel you want Gemini to analyze.
Step 2: Add Windsor.ai to Gemini Enterprise
The data store is created once per Google Cloud project. If your team already added Windsor.ai to Gemini Enterprise for another source, skip to the last item. The full setup guide has screenshots of each screen.
- In the Google Cloud console, open Gemini Enterprise, then Data stores, and click Create data store. Under third-party data sources, choose Windsor.ai.
- Under Entities to search, select Connectors. On the Actions step you can skip both actions for YouTube, because the YouTube connection only reads data (YouTube has no entry in the Windsor.ai write actions list).
- Pick the location: global (Google’s recommendation), us or eu. It cannot be changed later. Set up access control with Google Identity if the console asks.
- Keep General pricing and click Create. Wait until the data store state changes from Creating to Active.
- Open your Gemini Enterprise app in the same location, or create one, then go to Connected data stores and add the Windsor.ai data store.
- Open the app’s web URL, click the puzzle piece icon below the prompt box, click Authorize next to Windsor.ai and sign in. Check that the Windsor.ai toggle is on.

The Windsor.ai data store is in public preview under Google’s pre-GA terms. If this is the first Gemini Enterprise app in the project, Google adds a 30-day Gemini Enterprise licence with it. If you connect other sources later, such as Google Ads, the same data store reads them too.
Step 3: Check the connection
In the Gemini Enterprise web app, ask:
Which YouTube channel is connected to my Windsor.ai account? Show views, watch time in hours and subscribers gained and lost for each of the last three months.
Gemini should answer with your channel name and one row per month. If it answers without your data, open the puzzle piece menu and check that Windsor.ai is authorized and switched on.
What Gemini can read from YouTube
Windsor.ai returns 87 YouTube fields. These are the ones most questions use; the full list is on the YouTube fields page.
| Area | Fields | What they hold |
|---|---|---|
| Views and watch time | views, engaged_views, estimated_minutes_watched, average_view_duration, average_view_percentage | Views per video and day, minutes watched, and how much of each video people watched |
| Subscribers | subscribers_gained, subscribers_lost, subscribers_gained_channel, subscribers_lost_channel, subscriber_count | Subscribers per video, the channel’s daily totals, and the current subscriber count |
| Engagement | likes, comments, shares, videos_added_to_playlists | Likes, comments, shares and playlist adds per video |
| Content | video_title, published_at, video_length, video_tags, creator_content_type | Each video’s details, and whether a row is a Short, a regular video or a live stream |
| Traffic sources | traffic_source | How viewers reached your videos, for example YouTube search, suggested videos, external sites or subscriber feeds |
| Audience | country, city, viewer_age_group, viewer_gender, viewer_percentage | Where views come from, and age and gender as percentages |
A few details matter when you read the answers:
- Since March 2025, YouTube counts a Shorts view on every play or replay. To compare Shorts with regular videos, use engaged_views, which keeps the earlier method.
- subscriber_count is the total at the moment you ask, not for the date range in your question. For change over a period, ask for subscribers gained and lost.
- Age and gender come only as percentages of viewers, with no counts and no split by date. City data covers the top 250 cities and starts in 2022.
Questions to ask about your channel
Videos and formats
- List the 10 videos with the most watch time in the last 90 days, with average view percentage and subscribers gained for each.
- Compare Shorts and regular videos for September: engaged views, average view duration and subscribers gained per video.
- Which videos published in the last six months have an average view percentage under 30%?
The free forever plan reads 30 days of channel data back from today, short of the 90 days, six months, 12 weeks and quarter these questions ask about; a paid plan covers them.
Growth
- Show subscribers gained and lost per week for the last 12 weeks, and the videos that brought the most new subscribers in each week.
Discovery
- Split views by traffic source per month for the last quarter. Which source grew the most?
- For our five newest videos, how many views came from YouTube search and how many from suggested videos?
Audience
- Which 10 countries brought the most watch time last month, and how does average view duration differ between them?
What the YouTube connection does not do
The connection is read-only (Windsor.ai has no write actions for YouTube): Gemini cannot upload videos, edit titles or reply to comments through it. It also gives Gemini numbers and video details (title, description, tags, length), not the video itself.
Use YouTube data with other sources
If GA4, Google Ads or another social channel is connected to Windsor.ai too, one question can cover YouTube and that source together.
- With GA4: compare the weeks a video was published with sessions from youtube.com in GA4, to see whether a video sent visitors to your site.
- With Google Ads: if you promote videos, set organic views next to paid video views and cost for the same weeks.
- With other social channels: compare watch time and follower growth on YouTube with TikTok or Instagram for the same period.
Blending sources needs a plan with more than one data source after the first 30 days (see Before you start).
Troubleshooting
Windsor.ai connects a different channel, or a channel with no data
One Google account can own several channels, each under its own Brand Account. On Google’s Choose an account screen, pick the Brand Account shown with your channel’s name, not your personal Google account. A Google account without a channel still connects, but it has no data to report.
Gemini has no revenue or earnings numbers
The Windsor.ai YouTube connection does not return revenue fields. The YouTube Analytics API has them, for example estimatedRevenue in YouTube’s metrics reference, but Windsor.ai does not offer them today. Earnings stay on the Revenue tab of YouTube Analytics (YouTube’s ad revenue help).
Gemini answers without your channel data right after setup
Data can take about 10 minutes to appear after you add the data store to the app (setup guide FAQ). Wait, then refresh the web app. If the answer still has no channel numbers, make sure the data store state is Active, the Windsor.ai toggle is on, and the channel is selected in Windsor.ai (Step 1).
Conclusion
After the two connection steps, Gemini Enterprise answers questions about your channel’s views, watch time, subscribers, traffic sources and audience, per video and per day, and it can set them next to your website and ad data.

FAQs
Why can't I connect a channel I manage in YouTube Studio?
Because YouTube does not give the YouTube APIs to people invited through channel permissions. Managers, Editors and Viewers can use YouTube Studio, but only the owner can authorize the API access Windsor.ai needs. Ask the channel owner to connect it in Step 1.
Can Gemini watch my videos through this connection?
No. Windsor.ai gives Gemini the numbers and each video’s title, description, tags and length, not the picture or sound.
Does this work with a personal Gmail account?
No. Gemini Enterprise needs a Google Cloud project that belongs to a Google Workspace or Cloud Identity organization. The YouTube channel itself can belong to any Google account you own.
How much does it cost?
Windsor.ai has a free forever plan for one data source, with no credit card. Paid plans start at $19/month for 3 sources, billed annually. Gemini Enterprise licences and the data store are billed by Google separately.
Can Gemini compare Shorts with long videos?
Yes. Each row carries a content type (Shorts, regular video or live stream). Ask for engaged views when you compare Shorts with other videos, because YouTube counts Shorts views differently since March 2025.
