Knowing which post format is working is easy to see. Turning that into your next post, and staying on top of comments while you’re at it, is where the time actually goes. Once your account is connected to Windsor.ai (see: How to Connect Instagram to ChatGPT, or the Claude version), Windsor’s write actions let ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot publish posts, stories, and replies directly, not just tell you what’s performing well.
Is this automatic, or only when I ask?
Worth being direct about this: write actions are prompt-triggered, not autonomous monitoring. Whichever assistant you use, it doesn’t watch your comments in the background and reply the moment one comes in, there’s no unattended monitoring running between conversations.
It runs the action you ask for, when you ask for it. If you want comments checked and cleared regularly, ask for it explicitly at the start of each session rather than assuming it’s happening on its own.
What you can do with your Instagram account
Instagram supports 9 write actions through Windsor, covering posts, stories, and comment moderation on a connected Business or Creator account. Here’s the full list:
| What you can ask for | Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Create an image post | Feed | Single JPEG, 4:5 to 1.91:1 aspect ratio |
| Create a carousel post | Feed | 2 to 10 JPEG images in order |
| Create a video post | Feed | Published as a Reel, MP4/MOV, up to 15 minutes |
| Create a story | Story | Image or video, no caption, disappears in 24 hours |
| Create a comment | Media | Posts a new comment on one of your posts or reels |
| Reply to a comment | Comment | Public reply, attributed to your account |
| Hide a comment | Comment | Visible only to its author and you; reversible |
| Unhide a comment | Comment | Reverses a hide |
| Delete a comment | Comment | Permanent, use hide instead if you’re not sure |
For the exact parameters each action takes, see the full list of available write actions, kept live and up to date from the API. Every image or video needs a publicly accessible URL, and Instagram enforces its own format and size limits, JPEG only for images, aspect ratio ranges, file size caps, so your assistant needs a hosted file to work from, not a local upload.
Turn last month’s best format into a new post
Look at my last 30 days of posts and tell me which format, single
image, carousel, or reel, got the highest engagement rate. Based on
that, draft a caption for a new carousel post using these 4 image
URLs: [urls]. Show me the caption before you publish.
Reply to your top comments in one pass
Show me the comments on my last 3 posts, sorted by likes. Draft a
reply for the top 5, then post them once I confirm the wording.
Clear spam and off-brand comments
Find comments on my recent posts that look like spam or bot activity,
links, unrelated offers, repeated emoji strings. List them for me
first, then hide the ones I confirm.
⚠️ Hide before you delete. Hiding a comment is reversible, deleting it isn’t. When you’re not certain a comment is spam, hide it first, then delete later if it’s still clearly unwanted.
Export comments to find real questions and complaints
Comment moderation through Windsor’s write actions is already a real, established workflow, not a theoretical one. The pattern: export comment text and engagement data to a spreadsheet, ask your assistant to sort the signal from the noise, then reply or hide directly from the same conversation.
Export comment text, like count, reply count, and timestamp for every
comment on my last 20 posts into a Google Sheet. Then tell me which
ones are genuine questions or complaints, as opposed to generic
compliments or spam, so I can go through them.
From that list, draft a reply for each genuine question. Show me all
the drafts together, then post the ones I approve.
Publish a quick story between feed posts
Post this image as a story: [url]. No caption needed, it's just a
behind-the-scenes shot for today.

FAQs
Does it monitor comments and reply automatically?
No, in any of the three. Write actions are prompt-triggered: your assistant acts when you ask it to, in that conversation. There’s no background monitoring between sessions.
Will it publish a post or delete a comment without me approving it first?
No. Whichever assistant you’re using, it shows you the exact caption, image, or comment before running the action, especially since a delete can’t be undone.
Do I need to write code or set up an MCP server myself?
No. Connect your Instagram Business or Creator account to Windsor.ai once, and ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot can all use the same connection through Windsor’s MCP server.
Can it post from a personal Instagram account?
No. These write actions require a connected Instagram Business or Creator account, which is how Instagram’s API works, not a Windsor limitation.
Are Windsor's write actions reversible?
Mostly. Hiding a comment can be undone with unhide, and a post’s caption can be edited after the fact. Deleting a comment and publishing a story (which disappears on its own after 24 hours) are the two that can’t be manually reversed.
Is there any difference in what I can do between ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot?
No. The write actions come from Windsor’s MCP server, not from the assistant, so the same 9 actions are available in all three.
