Reading your Meta Ads data is useful. Acting on it is where the real time savings are. Once you’ve connected Meta Ads to Claude (see: How to Connect Meta Ads to Claude), Windsor’s write actions let Claude make real, live changes to your campaigns, ad sets, ads, and creatives, not just report on them.

What a write action actually is
A write action changes something in your live ad account, pausing a campaign, editing an ad’s copy, launching a new ad set, rather than just reporting on it. Claude treats each write action as a tool it’s allowed to use: you ask for the change in plain language, and it runs the matching action against your account.
What you can do with Meta Ads write actions in Claude
Meta Ads supports 17 write actions through Windsor, covering every level of the account hierarchy. Here’s the full list:
| What you can ask for | Level | Reversible? |
|---|---|---|
| Create a campaign | Campaign | No, but you can pause it |
| Enable / pause a campaign | Campaign | Yes |
| Set a campaign budget | Campaign | Yes |
| Update campaign settings (name, spend cap, regulated categories) | Campaign | Yes |
| Create an ad set | Ad set | No, but you can pause it |
| Enable / pause an ad set | Ad set | Yes |
| Set an ad set budget | Ad set | Yes |
| Update ad set settings (bid strategy, bid amount, end time) | Ad set | Yes |
| Create an ad | Ad | No, but you can pause it |
| Enable / pause an ad | Ad | Yes |
| Update ad settings (conversion domain, display sequence, swap creative) | Ad | Yes |
| Edit an ad’s creative (copy, headline, image, link, CTA, UTM tags) | Ad creative | Yes, edit again or swap back |
| Boost an existing organic post into a paid ad | Post | No, but you can pause the resulting ad |
| Set the Messenger/Instagram welcome message on Click-to-Message ads | Ad creative | Yes, edit again |
Meta Ads has no equivalent to Google’s campaign-level bidding strategy, CPC bid ceiling, target CPA, or negative keyword actions. You can still set bid strategy at the ad set level.
Create a campaign from a chat
Show ROAS by campaign for the last 30 days and identify the best-performing audience segment. Then create a new campaign called "Scale - Top Segment". Objective: sales. Daily budget: $50. Create one ad set targeting that segment. Leave the campaign paused. I want to review it before it runs.
⚠️ Nothing spends by accident. Every creation action is created paused by default. The campaign, ad set, ad, or boosted post sits there until you explicitly enable it.
Boost a post that’s already working
Find my top-performing organic Facebook post from the last 14 days. Show me the post and its engagement numbers first. Then set up the boost: create an engagement campaign, add an ad set with a $20 daily budget for 5 days, and boost that post into it.
Edit an ad that’s already running
Ad creatives aren’t editable in place, Meta treats them as immutable, so editing one actually builds a new creative with your changes and re-points the ad at it. The ad keeps its ID and its performance history; only the creative content changes.
My ad "Spring Sale - Carousel" has a CTR below account average. Rewrite the primary text to lead with a stronger hook, and change the call-to-action button to "Shop Now". Show me the current and proposed versions side by side before applying.
Pause underperformers automatically flagged
Show every active campaign for the last 14 days with spend, ROAS, and CPA. Flag any campaign where CPA is more than 25% above target. Tell me which ones you'd pause and why. Wait for my confirmation before pausing anything.
Move budget toward the winners
Compare cost per result across my ad sets for the last 30 days. Set the best-performing ad set's budget to $60 a day. Set the two worst-performing ad sets to $10 a day. Confirm each change back to me.
5-rule safety protocol: How to manage Meta Ads from Claude without getting banned
Remember — automating Meta Ads can get you banned, so you have to handle all the integrations with Claude carefully.
We’ve seen accounts shut down overnight after aggressive automation. When that happens, you don’t just lose access; you lose pixel data, audiences, campaign learning, and often budget. Recovery is rare.
What actually triggers bans
Meta doesn’t care what tool you use. It looks at behavior. Two patterns cause most bans:
1. High-frequency automated changes. Reading data is safe. Problems start when automation makes rapid changes to budgets, campaigns, or ads faster than a human would. That triggers bot detection.
2. Automating the Ads Manager UI. Using bots or scripts to control the interface (instead of the API) looks like impersonation. This is explicitly forbidden and often leads to instant bans.
5 rules to use Claude with your Meta Ads data safely
1. Don’t trade budgets like stocks. Meta officially caps budget changes at 4 per ad set per hour and 10 spend-cap changes per account per day. Treat those as hard ceilings, not soft suggestions.
2. Humans approve writes. Windsor MCP supports direct execution, but always review what Claude proposes before confirming. Claude will show you exactly which campaigns, ad sets, or ads it intends to affect and ask for your approval before making any change.
3. Never touch the UI programmatically. All legitimate automation goes through the Marketing API. Browser automation, RPA tools, and headless Chrome pointed at meta.com are off the table, full stop.
4. Serialize multi-account operations. If you manage multiple accounts, run them one at a time with at least 15 minutes between sequential runs. Parallel bursts across accounts are one of the most commonly cited triggers when automated setups cause bans.
5. Use tools with official API access. Never share your Meta password with any AI tool. Only use integrations that authenticate via OAuth 2.0 and operate through Meta’s official Marketing API, like Windsor.ai.

FAQs
Will Claude spend money without me approving it first?
No. Every campaign, ad set, or ad Claude creates is set to paused by default. Nothing runs or spends until you explicitly enable it, and Claude shows you exactly what it’s about to do before making any change.
Are Windsor write actions reversible?
Most are. Enabling, pausing, and budget changes can be undone anytime. Creating a new campaign, ad set, ad, or boost can’t be undone directly, but you can pause whatever gets created immediately after, which is why everything starts paused by default.
Can Claude edit an ad that's already running?
Yes. Claude can edit an existing ad’s copy, headline, image, link, call-to-action button, and UTM tags. Meta treats ad creatives as immutable, so this works by building a new creative with your changes and re-pointing the ad at it; the ad keeps its ID and performance history.
Can Claude boost a post that's already live?
Yes. Ask Claude to find your best-performing organic post and boost it directly into a new or existing ad set, no need to leave the conversation to set it up in Ads Manager.
Do I need to write code or configure anything extra to use write actions in Claude?
No. Windsor’s write actions are available through the same native Claude connector used for reporting, no custom MCP server, no developer settings to enable. This differs from ChatGPT, where write actions currently need a temporary manual connector step pending app review, a Claude-specific advantage, not a general MCP limitation.
Is this safe? How do I avoid getting my Meta account banned?
Follow the 5-rule safety protocol above: stay within Meta’s official rate limits, always approve writes yourself, never automate the Ads Manager UI directly, serialize multi-account operations, and only use tools with official API access like Windsor.ai.
