Which one do I need?

Everything below is about connecting HubSpot to ChatGPT, a separate step that lets you analyze HubSpot data, alone or alongside other sources, from outside the HubSpot UI.

Not to be confused with HubSpot’s built-in AI (Breeze/Copilot). Breeze lives inside HubSpot and is optimized for in-workflow tasks, like drafting an email or summarizing a contact record.

To help you navigate quicker, here’s what each method allows you to do. “Best for” leads so you can jump straight to the row that matches your situation.

Custom GPT Actions is last on purpose. It’s the heaviest-effort option (a real developer task), so it belongs at the end as the fallback for when the other three genuinely don’t cover your case.

Method 1

HubSpot's official ChatGPT connector

Live since June 2025 and built on HubSpot’s Remote MCP Server. It enforces the same permissions your HubSpot users already have, so nobody sees data through ChatGPT that they could not see in HubSpot itself.

Two entry points, one connector

From ChatGPT

Settings > Connectors > HubSpot > Connect, then sign in with your HubSpot login.

From HubSpot

Settings > Integrations > App Marketplace, search for the HubSpot connector for ChatGPT, then Install app and authorise on the OpenAI side.

Both routes install the same connector, so use whichever app you are already in. Either way a HubSpot Super Admin has to complete the first setup, and you need a paid ChatGPT plan.

What it can do

  • Query contacts, companies, deals, tickets, standard and custom properties
  • Deep Research mode for multi-variable analysis
  • Create records and log engagements (bidirectional, as of early 2026)
  • Your HubSpot data is not used to train ChatGPT's general models - it's read into your conversation, not fed back into OpenAI's models

What it can't do

  • See anything outside HubSpot - no ad spend, no website behaviour, no revenue data from other tools (see Method 2)
  • Work in the ChatGPT mobile app yet - web only, for now

Connect HubSpot to Windsor

Method 3

Automation platforms

If what you actually need is event-triggered automation, like “when a deal closes, do X,” rather than conversational Q&A, workflow-automation platforms can connect HubSpot and ChatGPT for that use case. This is a different job from Methods 1 and 2: those are for asking questions about your data, this is for triggering actions off HubSpot events.

What it can do

  • Trigger actions automatically when HubSpot events happen - "when a deal closes, do X"
  • Connect HubSpot to ChatGPT or GPT actions as one step in a broader workflow spanning other tools

What it can't do

  • Answer conversational questions about your data - it is not built for Q&A (see Methods 1 and 2)

A plain HubSpot export to CSV also still works for one-off analysis, but you lose object relationships, deals disconnected from contacts, and so on. Fine for a single quick question, not for anything recurring.

Method 4

Custom GPT Actions on HubSpot's API

If none of the above cover a workflow you need (a specific internal object, a non-standard permission model, an action HubSpot has not exposed yet), you can build your own using HubSpot’s API and ChatGPT’s Custom GPT Actions.

This is the heaviest-effort route here: you are defining an OpenAPI schema and wiring up auth yourself rather than doing a no-code setup.

What it can do

  • Whatever you build - full flexibility over which HubSpot objects, actions and permissions are exposed
  • Cover workflows that the official connector or Windsor.ai do not support

What it can't do

  • Work without developer effort - there is no no-code path here, you are defining the OpenAPI schema and wiring up auth yourself

Reach for this only when Methods 1 to 3 genuinely do not cover your case. It carries ongoing build and maintenance cost that the other three do not.
