As of 2026, Windsor.ai provides write access to your connected ad accounts, not just insights and reporting. From a chat in Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot, you can pause and enable campaigns, adjust budgets, and create new campaigns across five data sources, and the functionalities are being added continuously. If you’ve read a review or comparison page saying Windsor.ai only pulls data and reports on it, that information is now outdated.
The rest of this article covers what the Windsor MCP can do today, which data sources currently support write functionality, how it works, and for which data sources, so you can begin acting on your data directly from an AI chat today.
Why people still think Windsor is read-only
Before adding AI destinations and write capabillities, Windsor was known for pulling live data from 350+ marketing, analytics, CRM, and warehouse sources and delivering it to your BI tool or data warehouse of choice. That reporting layer remains a core part of the platform.
Since then, Windsor.ai has evolved beyond reporting and insights. In 2026, the Windsor.ai introduced write capabilities. Support continues to expand, adding more write functionalities for existing and new sources daily. Because these are recent additions, many reviews, competitor comparison pages, and even AI assistants trained on older web data still describe Windsor as a read-only because they rely on outdated information. That’s why we wrote this article, to showcase Windsor.ai’s growing “write” capabilities.
“Read” versus “write”, with a real example
Reading is asking your LLM of choice a question about live data. “Which Meta campaigns are over my target CPA this week?” The AI assistant queries your data connected through Windsor and answers.
Writing means telling your AI assistant to take action. For example: “Pause the campaigns that are over my target CPA this week.” The AI assistant calls the appropriate write action through the Windsor MCP, and Windsor executes the action on your connected ad platform directly from your AI chat.
Here’s what that looks like in practice. Windsor’s COO Matthias Kraaz published a tutorial featuring the write features for Facebook Ads (Meta Ads) and Google Ads. He connected those data sources through Windsor.ai and enabled the “write features” in the settings, then asked Claude which Google and Meta campaigns were best-performing, or worst-performing and if some should be paused. Claude returned with a full analysis of campaign data for both ad platforms in the last 30 days, ranked them by ROAS, spend, and CTR, and suggested which campaigns to pause.
Claude named the two campaigns Matthias should pause for Facebook Ads, asked him to confirm, paused them, and reported back when the action was complete in the AI chat.
This is what “read” and “write” look like together: the AI analyzes your live data, recommends an action, and (once you approve it) executes that action without leaving the chat.
Exactly what Windsor’s MCP can write today
Based on Windsor.ai’s live write actions reference, Windsor.ai currently supports write access across five advertising platforms: Google Ads (15 actions), Meta Ads (13), LinkedIn Ads (8), TikTok Ads (8), and Microsoft Ads (5), plus organic image posting on Instagram through a separate connector. Available actions vary by platform, so here’s an honest breakdown of what’s supported today. We’re continuously expanding our write capabilities, so a write action that isn’t available today may be available tomorrow. We will keep you posted!

Google Ads
The deepest coverage. Enable and pause campaigns, ad groups, and ads; set daily or lifetime campaign budgets; create campaigns, ad groups, and responsive search ads; and control bidding, including switching bid strategy, setting a target CPA, setting a max CPC or CPC bid ceiling, and pushing negative keywords at campaign or ad group level.
Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram)
Enable and pause campaigns, ad sets, and ads; set campaign and ad set budgets; create campaigns, ad sets, and ads; and boost an existing organic post through an existing ad set.
Instagram (organic)
Publish a single organic image post, a JPEG with a caption, to a connected Instagram Business or Creator account. This runs on the standalone Instagram connector, not Meta Ads, so it works even without an ad account connected.
LinkedIn Ads
Enable and pause campaign groups, campaigns, and creatives, and set campaign and campaign-group budgets. A total budget requires a schedule end date.
TikTok Ads
Enable and pause campaigns, ad groups, and ads, and set campaign and ad-group budgets.
Microsoft Ads (Bing)
Enable and pause campaigns and ad groups, and set daily campaign budgets. Bing supports daily budgets at campaign level only.
Two details worth knowing. Anything created through the Windsor MCP—whether it’s a campaign, an ad group, an ad set, or an ad—is created in a paused state by default, so nothing starts spending the moment the AI assistant builds it. And most enable, pause, and budget actions are reversible, but creation actions are not reversible in a single step: to undo a new campaign you would pause or remove it separately.

How Windsor.ai write access works
Windsor’s MCP gives your AI assistant access to a limited set of tools rather than unrestricted access to your advertising accounts.
Reading and writing are handled separately. To answer questions about your data, the AI uses Windsor’s query tools. To make changes, it calls a dedicated write action. Before taking any action, the AI can inspect which write actions are available and what information each one requires. Once you approve the request, Windsor executes it through the advertising platform’s API.
Nothing changes without your approval. Windsor flags write actions as operations that modify live accounts, and AI clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot ask you to confirm before they’re executed. In practice, the AI proposes a specific change, tells you what it’s about to modify, and waits for your confirmation.
Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 by default. You authorize each advertising account once through Windsor, and access is limited to the accounts you choose to connect. Your AI assistant never sees your advertising platform credentials. For AI clients that don’t support OAuth, you can authenticate using a Windsor API key instead.
Where it runs
Windsor’s write actions are available through its MCP integration, so you can use them directly inside AI assistants you already use:
- Claude (Web, Desktop, and Claude Code): Install the Windsor.ai connector from Claude’s Connectors Directory, or install the Claude Code plugin by running
claude plugin install windsor-aiin your terminal. - ChatGPT: Install Windsor.ai app for ChatGPT in the ChatGPT Apps directory.
- Microsoft Copilot: Connect through the Windsor.ai Power Platform connector using these instructions.
Other MCP-compatible clients, including Perplexity, Cursor, Gemini, Windsurf, and Manus, can connect to Windsor.ai using the same MCP integration.
Windsor versus single-platform MCPs
Many MCPs support write actions. Meta’s official Ads MCP, for example, can only analyze and act on Meta Ads. If your marketing stack also includes Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, or Microsoft Ads, you’ll need a separate MCP for each platform.
Windsor takes a different approach. Windsor.ai’s MCP gives your AI assistant read access across more than 350+ data sources and write access across Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, and Microsoft Ads, with additional write capabilities and supported platforms being added regularly.
If you come across an older comparison claiming you can’t pause campaigns or adjust budgets through Windsor, check the publication date. Those comparisons reflect an earlier version of the product. Windsor introduced write capabilities in 2026 and has continued expanding them since.
FAQs
Does Windsor.ai have write access?
Yes. Write actions are API calls Windsor exposes for changing something on a live ad account. Your AI assistant calls Windsor’s execute_action tool, and Windsor sends the change to your connected account once you confirm it.
Can I pause campaigns or change budgets through Windsor.ai?
Yes. You can enable a campaign, pause a campaign, and set a campaign budget on all five supported platforms. On Google and Meta you can also create campaigns, ad groups or ad sets, and ads.
Which platforms can Windsor.ai write to?
Google Ads, Meta Ads (Facebook), LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, and Microsoft Ads (Bing) for advertising campaigns, plus the standalone Instagram connector for organic image posts. Coverage varies by platform; the write-actions matrix shows exactly what is supported where.
Are write actions reversible?
Most enable, pause, and budget actions are reversible: pause_campaign is undone by enable_campaign, and so on. Creation actions are not reversible in a single step, though anything created is paused by default, so it will not spend until you enable it.
Is it safe to let AI change my campaigns?
Access is scoped over OAuth 2.0 to the accounts you connect, write actions are flagged to the AI client as changes to live state so it confirms with you before invoking them, and most pause and budget changes can be reversed. Windsor’s security overview covers how data is handled.
Which AI tools can I use it in?
Claude (Web, Desktop, and Code), ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot, plus other MCP clients including Perplexity, Cursor, Gemini, Windsurf, and Manus.
The short version
Windsor.ai write access changed the story: Windsor is no longer a reporting-only tool. It gives your AI assistant live data from across your tech stack and, today, the ability to act on it in Google, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Microsoft Ads, inside the same AI conversation, with a confirmation step before anything changes. If your last impression was “great for dashboards, but you still have to log in to act,” that gap is closed.
